Rigby: Rifle No. 12169

Lot description
52 Bore John Rigby Percussion Match Rifle. 36" heavy barrel marked "John Rigby & Co Dublin & London". Underside of barrel with "Rigby trademark" and "12169". Foresight with spirit level. Rear folding target sight marked "to 200 yds" and "RAD 52 inch". Both rear sights are marked "12169". Bore quite good. Plain lock marked "WM and JNO Rigby" in old script. Safety catch in front of Dolphin hammer. All screw heads engraved. Patch box has 2 foresight elements. Metalwork has been refinished. Nicely figured half walnut stock with crisp chequering to forewood and pistol grip. On the right side there is a repair (inletted piece) which runs through the tear drop and up to the back of the tang sight. There is also repairs around the pineapple finial. Steel butt plate with sight fitting. Horn schnable and pistol grip cap. Action strong. S/N 12169. G+WO & refinished condition. In an associated green felt lined wooden case in VGC. [Lot: 1168.
